UPDATE 12/22/20: The Solon Springs are received 2"-3" of snow yesterday, and there is a WINTER STORM WATCH for the area tomorrow. There is more snow to the north of our area, and less to the south. On the plus side, because of the lack of snow, our swamps are well frozen and we anticipate being able to open trails quickly once we receive sufficient snow. Some of our problem areas on Trails 541, 41 northwest of Solon Springs, 7 east of Solon Springs, etc are now frozen solid and in excellent shape. Clint Meyer at the Douglas County Forestry Department has assisted us with some huge trail projects this year. The most notable is a major reroute around 1 Mile Lake on Trail 41 just west of Gordon, and the elimination of the beaver dam/lake on Trail 41 northwest of Solon Springs. Thank you to Clint Meyer for facilitating the reroutes, and repair of these areas. As an FYI, there will be major logging for 3-4 weeks starting today on Trail 41 northwest of Solon Springs up towards the BRR Warming Shack. We will be adding additional signage in the next few days to alert riders to the logging traffic. In summary, we're ready to go as soon as we get some snow. I'll post our progress here and let you know what trails are officially open.Douglas County Forestry will be posting other trail openings in the county. Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!!!
